How It All Started

Every lead that costs more than the last one, in a market getting more expensive every quarter. Every ad personalised down to the last detail, only to be followed by a sales call that could've gone to anyone. Every buyer who was ready to say yes, and nobody called in time.

That's the gap Apurv, Kanika, and Vikas built SquadStack for. In a country as linguistically and culturally varied as India, a single sales call could shift language, tone, and trust more than once before it ended, and most systems simply weren't built to keep up.

SquadStack was built to give every one of those calls its best shot - the best pitch, on their preferred channel, at the right time, in their language.

Almost everything got rebuilt along the way, through the pivots, the growth, and the shift into AI. What held was the belief that the person on the other end of a sales conversation deserves to be heard, not processed.

Meet the OG Squad

The people leading our teams today are proof that growth isn't just talked about here, it's real.
More than 15 of our team leads started in different roles, grew into leadership, and have stayed with us for 7+ years.

Q: What's your role actually looked like over the years?
The opportunities here have never stayed in one lane. I’ve gotten to keep pivoting, chase the exciting stuff (hello, AI!), and argue my way to better ideas with some of the best people.

Q: Is there an engineering habit that's outlasted every process change?
We treat every config. option as a permanent liability - the habit here is to delete the knob and default on some sane value until someone proves they need it.

Q: What’s usually the hardest part of making a business decision?
Getting it right more often than not. Being able to deal with the consequences / make up for it when you don’t.

Q: Aapka yahaan ka sabse yaadgaar/achha din kaunsa raha hai?
Office ka jab opening hua tha tab apurv sir ne mujhe feeta kaatne ka mauka diya. Wo din mere liye bahut khaas aur yaadgaar tha.

Q: What's the same about your job now as it was in 2016?
Over the decade at Squad, while the nature and scale of my role have evolved significantly, one thing has remained constant: the expectation to own the problem, not just the role.

Q: What's a work standard you've never lowered?
The deadline has never been the finish line for me. If there’s a better version sitting on the table, we owe it to ourselves to go after it, even if the launch is two hours away.

Q: What would surprise an outsider most?
That there’s genuinely no “this is how we’ve always done it” safety net. If something doesn’t make sense, you’re expected to question it.

Q: Name the one thing every good salesperson here has in common.
Curiosity. If you’re genuinely curious about the customer’s problem, selling becomes less about pitching and more about solving.

Q: What do the people who grow fastest here have in common?
They don't wait to be told what the priority is. Every leader here is effectively the founder of their function, and the people who thrive are the ones who work that way from day one, whatever their title.

Q: What's a lesson a decade at Squad taught you?
A decade has taught me that there’s no shortage of hard problems to solve. The trick is to keep showing up, figure them out, and have a lot of fun along the way.

Q: What has changed the most in how we operate as Squad has grown?
I'd say the biggest change is a more structured and process-driven way of working. As Squad has grown, we've built stronger processes, clearer ownership, and greater accountability, while maintaining the same flexibility and team spirit.

Q: One thing about your work that's never needed fixing?
My habit of automating myself out of problems. Every system I build just clears space for the next weird one to land on my desk. Turns out that's the whole trick: stay curious, keep quietly rebuilding.

Life Here, In the Small Moments

Ask anyone who's been here a while and they won't quote you a mission statement.

They'll tell you about the Townhall "Yo, Yo, Yo" - Apurv's ritual that's become something between an inside joke and a company heartbeat. They'll tell you about the hackathon that ran past midnight because nobody wanted to stop. The meme channel that's somehow always active. And a dozen other inside jokes that don't make sense unless you've been here.

Ask anyone who's been here a while and they won't quote you a mission statement. They'll tell you about the "Yo, Yo, Yo" at Townhall, the hackathons that run past midnight, and the meme channel that never sleeps.
